Jayme A. Kurtyka (member of the Bf Advisory committee) represented us in the Clinton Global Initiative Action Network on Post Disaster Recovery held in Miami in April, 3. The leaders of Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands, Dominica, and Antigua and Barbuda had approached President Clinton about assisting their countries to rebuild in a more resilient fashion, after the devastation of the hurricanes in September 2017. Out of this request, the Clinton Foundation launched the Action Network at the meeting, which brought together leaders from across sectors – government, civil society, business, and academia to “develop new, specific, and measurable plans that will advance the recovery and promote long-term resiliency across the region.” Participants both learned from leaders in the region about key priorities and needs, and worked towards “tangible” future steps and opportunities for collaboration. Blue finance hosted a discussion in the conservation session of Restoring the Natural Resource Base for Thriving Societies.
